RANGKANG FISIKA SERIES 5: Monthly Seminar of the Department of Physics FMIPA USK Highlights Innovation in Biocomposites from Palm Oil Waste

Banda Aceh, May 22, 2026 – The Master’s Program in Physics, Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (FMIPA), Universitas Syiah Kuala (USK), once again supported the implementation of an academic activity through Rangkang Fisika Series 5, the monthly seminar organized by the Department of Physics, FMIPA USK. The seminar was held on Wednesday, May 20, 2026, in a hybrid format. The event featured Prof. Dr. Ir. Ismail AB, M.Sc, from the Department of Physics, FMIPA USK, as the keynote speaker, presenting the topic “Development of Biocomposites from Palm Oil Waste.”

This seminar served as an academic forum for lecturers, students, researchers, and the public to broaden their understanding of the use of palm oil waste as high-value, environmentally friendly biocomposite materials. During the session, Prof. Ismail explained the potential of developing palm oil waste-based materials as sustainable alternatives for various industrial and technological applications.

The seminar, held from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM WIB, was organized in a hybrid format, allowing participants to attend both onsite and via Zoom. Participants showed great enthusiasm during the discussion session, which explored topics such as material innovation, waste-processing challenges, and future research opportunities in material physics and environmental science.

Through the Rangkang Fisika program, the Department of Physics FMIPA USK, together with the Master’s Program in Physics, continues to demonstrate its commitment to providing inspiring, collaborative, and relevant scientific forums that address sustainable development issues. This seminar is expected to encourage further research innovations that contribute significantly to scientific advancement and the optimal utilization of local resources.
